The Cult of Dionysis

The Cult of Dionysus is the "ground-breaking" experimental group of NHTC. This group tries to break down the perception of what "theater" is. The Cult of Dionysus operates under a fabricated history of being a secret society that has utilized art and theater as tools for social change and communal understanding throughout history. Generally, The Cult of Dionysus adapts classical work into new forms. The Cult branding is mysterious and edgy. The Cult of Dionysus is marketed to individuals that would normally avoid "theater", and so it is performed in "non-traditional" settings and environments. Projects include:

The Game of Love and Chance
Presented weekly during June and July 2005, this production introduced the Cult of Dionysus to the community, by taking the 1733 Marivaux classic and dropping it into a dance club setting with the action of the play weaving through the audience.

Canterbury Karaoke (in development)
This show puts the audience onstage, singing their favorite songs as the narrative storylines and atmosphere for a collection of short vignettes, loosely based on Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales.

When DJ's Dream (in development)
A mixture of puppetry and music help shape this reinvention of A
Midsummer Night's Dream.
