New Haven Theater Company is proud to announce the Second Sex Play Fest, a festival of new works for women.

Mission:
It is our intention to grow the volume of literature featuring young female actors, and to heighten the awareness of the lack of such literature by not only producing a new works festival but by publishing an anthology of the winning works from the festival as well. As we endeavor to encourage female-centric story telling by playwrights, we also hope to grow an audience eager to hear those stories.

Submission Guidelines:
• Deadline for entries is April 15, 2010.
• All entries must be under 20 pages in length.
• Author contact information, including email, must be on the title page. Each entry
will receive a confirmation email upon receipt of entry.
• All characters in plays must be female or written to be played by female actors.
• The obvious majority of the characters must be between the ages of 18-35.
• Entries must be theatrically simple and easily produced.
• Entries must be new works that have not yet been produced or staged.
• The producers strongly encourage the submission of comedies.
• All entries meeting the above criteria will be read by the selection committee.
• By submitting a play for consideration, a playwright gives Second Sex Play Fest the
right to produce the work with no royalty payment.
• Selected entries will be fully produced for the Second Sex Play Fest in August 2010
